Yaboten (野暮天) - A Hitakatsu, Tsushima Restaurant Famous for Donchan (とんちゃん) and Nagasaki Champon (ちゃんぽん)

Yaboten (野暮天) is a popular restaurant in the Hitakatsu area of Tsushima.

It is well-known among Koreans and was even featured on the Korean TV show KBS VJ something.
The restaurant has a quiet and homely atmosphere, reminiscent of a countryside yakiniku restaurant.

The menu at Yaboten features Donchan (とんちゃん) and Nagasaki Champon (ちゃんぽん). Tonchan is a dish that adapts Korean bulgogi to Tsushima's local flavors. It was created by Koreans who moved to Tsushima and missed the taste of their homeland. Perhaps because of this, it pairs wonderfully with rice.

The flavor is similar to Korean pork ribs, with a sweet marinade that tastes fantastic when enjoyed with a cold beer.

Yaboten offers a unique Nagasaki Champon (ちゃんぽん), featuring distinct chewy noodles in a flavorful and hearty broth.

The very kind owner graciously drove us to the camping site. He spoke Korean quite well, so we chatted about various things as we headed to the campsite.
